I took a one-on-one class at CEIC for two weeks at the end of January 2014. My teachers, Dilcia and Marta, were kind enough to ask me for topics that would be of interest to me before I flew over to Santo Domingo. So I was able to work on some problematic grammar such as the different forms of the Spanish past tense, prepositions and the use of “ser” and “estar”. Another important point on the agenda were the peculiarities of the Dominican Spanish (leaving out the “s”, in some region swapping an “r” for an “l”, etc.). This way the class did help me understand the local folks better. The part I enjoyed the most, however, were the discussions of Dominican culture, mentality, society, and “socio-economic” topics. Other people in the school joined in so that we often had an extensive, witty and steamy exchange of views and arguments. Through these discussions I could double-check my impressions that I had gained outside the school. The learning environment was also very inviting - I could choose between class rooms inside the school building (equipped with air conditioning) and in a beautiful garden. To sum it up: I enjoyed my two weeks at CEIC tremendously, learned a lot about the language and the country and got to know a very enthusiastic and committed staff. This class provided me with an access to the Dominican Republic that a normal tourist would never gain. A last point that needs to be mentioned is the easy reachability of the school - just take the metro, hop off at María Montez station and walk six minutes.

I am so happy to have found you on facebook. It's been a long time since I took classes but I will always remember the kindness that was extended to me and the warm, family atmosphere of the school. Such a perfect way to learn one of the most beautiful languages in the world. I can't say enough to recommend this wonderful school and the ladies who run it. They took me under thier wing when I had some difficulty and I will never forget them. It was above and beyond the call of duty.

J'ai v?cu une exp?rience fantastique ? CEIC.
!Muchas gracias!

I had a wonderful experience at CEIC. All of the teachers are knowledgeable and design the classes to meet your needs. Learning is also hands on and takes place beyond the classroom. We toured the Colonial Zone, we learned how to navigate the public transportation and we visited a typical dominican market. CEIC arranged activities for me and found a summer camp for my daughter to attend while I was in class. This is a special program.
